UPDATE: (May 3, 2024) — Thank you for supporting our friends in need in Peoria!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your incredible generosity! During our 2nd annual St. Vincent de Paul Dental Drive, you donated more than 150 tubes of toothpaste, hundreds of packages of floss and dental picks, many denture care products, and hundreds of toothbrushes for both adults and kids!

Our neighboring SVdP conferences at Holy Family, St. Thomas, and St. Jude, and the people they serve, greatly appreciate these dental products – especially because they are often in short supply in many pantries.

Your generosity will help provide our friends and neighbors in Peoria with the tools they need to care for their health!

From the St. Philomena SVdP society, Thank You! You make all our efforts to help those in need possible!

Did you know that SNAP (food stamps) does not cover dental items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste? The weekend of April 20-21, 2024 St. Philomena’s St. Vincent dePaul Society (SVdP) will be collecting donations in the vestibule of St. Philomena Church of the following dental care items:

  • Soft bristle toothbrushes in adult and child sizes
  • Toothpaste (full size tubes preferred)
  • Dental floss
  • Flossers (such as DenTek or Plackers)
  • Denture adhesive (such as Fixodent)
  • Denture cleansers (such as Polident)
  • Toothbrush shields and sleeves

Items will stay in Peoria and go to our friends in need who are helped by St. Philomena, St. Thomas, and St. Jude SVdP chapters.

“Oral health is a vital part of overall physical health. Having access to the right dental care items can be the difference between healthy gums and teeth, and tooth decay and gum disease. Some research has even shown a potential link between gum disease and diabetes.” [Dr. Keiko Watanabe, U of I Chicago]

Donating any of the above items can help improve someone’s life and health in a concrete way. Thank you!
