New Year Home Blessing
3 Jan 2025 | Posted by: chadmin
A longstanding tradition within the Catholic Church is to bless one’s house with blessed chalk and holy water on or around the Feast of the Epiphany. While this blessing can be done by anyone in their own homes, Father Daniel and Deacon Ben are offering to come over and bless them for you.
The blessing consists of using holy water to bless the house along with using blessed chalk to write above each doorway the traditional symbol 20+C+M+B+25. This represents the three wise men (Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar) along with the year: 2025. This blessing is a reminder that just as the three wise men welcomed the child Jesus into this world, so may He be welcomed into your home.
This blessing is being offered throughout the month of January to honor this tradition. CLICK HERE for the sign up or contact the parish office, 309-682-8642. God bless and Merry Christmas.
