Mission Appeal: June 21 & 22, 2025

This weekend (June 21 & 22) – “Solemnity of Corpus Christi” – we will hear from Fr. John Bosco Mujuni at all the Masses about his home mission Church in the Archdiocese of Mbarara, Uganda, East Africa. He will ask for financial support toward the completion of the Church that is under construction.

There is need of approximately $40,000 toward completion. This includes floor finishing, electric installations, plumbing, gutters for rain water collection, pews and landscaping. There is a plan to construct rain water tanks around the Church in which the rain water from the Church roof is collected, and be used by people in the Church community.

Fr. John Bosco is one of the African priests serving in our diocese at St. Patrick Church, Dwight and St. Paul Church, Odell. As a way of appreciating the services rendered by the priests from Africa and other mission lands, the Diocese of Peoria encourages each parish every year to have a missionary visit, in order to support their projects.

This weekend there are appeal envelopes where you can put your donation. If you are writing a check make it payable to St. Philomena and on the memo write, “Missionary Co-Op 2025.” If you prefer, you can send your donation by any other envelope to the parish office, and mark it, “Missionary Co-Op.” Your donation is tax deductible. May the blessings and Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ shower upon you.
