(February 20, 2024) — Congratulations to our class of 2024 boys basketball team on back-to-back trips to the IESA final four. They finished up their junior high careers bringing home a fourth place trophy. The St. Philomena community is very proud of the entire team.

Students in 1st-4th grades are invited to join the 8th grade cheerleaders for cheer camp. Camp will be Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the St. Philomena School Gym. Campers will then perform during the 8th grade boys home game on Friday, November 10, 2023.

Cost is $20/camper and includes a special t-shirt. Must register by October 20, 2023 at 9:00 p.m. to guarantee a t-shirt. Click here for the online registration.

(UPDATE September 20, 2023) Our boys and girls golf teams solidified a place in IESA history by placing in the first-ever team event for golf at the state finals. The boys came home with a 2nd place trophy and team score of 348, and the girls placed 6th with a team score of 450. Final scoreboards can be viewed on the IESA website: Boys   Girls

We had about 40 students in grades 5-8 participate in golf this year. Matt Coulter is our head golf coach. Paws Up!

(UPDATE September 8, 2023) The Tigers are going to the State Team Finals for golf, in both the girls and boys tournaments. This is quite an accomplishment and we are all so proud of their hard work. The boys won the C Sectional on September 6 and the girls qualified as the at-large team on September 7 after participating in the B Sectional.

On the girls team teeing off on September 14 it will be Bryn Coulter, Molly Gibson, Gloria Hayes and Norah O’Leary. Representing the boys on September 15 will be Joey Alwan, Andrew Best, Nolan Kenny and Alex O’Leary. For more information on the finals, visit iesa.org . Paws up, Tigers!

(August 29, 2023)  Congratulations to members of our golf team who qualified for the 2023 Sectional tournament. They are listed below with their qualifying scores. Boys will play on September 6 at Parkview Golf Course in Pekin. Girls will play September 7 at Madison Golf Course in Peoria. Paws up, Tigers!

(Feb. 9, 2023) — The 7th grade boys brought home the first IESA basketball championship in school history. The team defeated Dieterich 40-29 on February 9 at Meridian High School for the 7-2A title. The next day, the team brought the state championship trophy around the school and took photos with each class to celebrate the victory. Congratulations to the boys on an amazing achievement. Thank you to the coaches and adults who shared their time and talent with our students.

 

(Feb. 6, 2023) — With two wins on Saturday, February 4, 2023 the boys advance to the IESA 7-2A State title game on Thursday, February 9, 2023. They will face Dieterich (25-2) at Meridian High School (728 S Wall St., Macon IL) at 7:30 p.m.  Details about the game, including online ticket purchases, can be found at iesa.org. Meridian High School will provide a live stream for those who cannot attend.

(Jan. 30, 2023) –Congratulations to our 7th grade boys basketball team on their Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) regional championship. The boys were the top seed in the St. Vincent dePaul Regional. After a first-round bye, they defeated Peoria Heights Grade School 34-32 and moved on to the championship. The Tigers faced the host Vikings and came away victorious by a score of 32-18.

On January 30, the boys defeated Elmwood Grade School in the sectional game to advance to the IESA state tournament. Their first game will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 4 against Roanoke-Benson in Macon IL. Click here for the IESA website.
