Science Teacher Receives Grant

Mrs. Sue Tony, junior high science teacher, is once again a recipient of an education grant by the PNC Foundation and Ruby K. Worner Charitable Trust.

Her focus this year: Why is careful accurate measurement important to scientists? With the grant money she will purchase digital scales, thermometers, and metric rulers. This will allow students to work in smaller lab groups and give them more time to practice their metric measurement skills.

We appreciate Mrs. Tony always seeking ways to bring great experiences to the students in her classroom. Congratulations!

Everyone is invited to our annual open house on Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 12:00-2:00 p.m.: current families, parishioners, alumni, past parents, curious families, prospective families, neighbors, friends, grandparents, aunts, uncles and anyone else who is interested!

Come to the gym and meet our office staff, ask questions about enrollment, meet our PTO and Athletics Committee members and learn about our Care Program.

All classrooms will be open so you can connect with our teachers. Parent volunteers will be stationed throughout the building to answer questions and point you in the right direction.

Pick up a St. Philomena Passport in the gym, or at any entrance, and visit our destination classrooms where your family will take part in interactive activities that showcase our school, students and faculty. There is a little bit of something for everyone.

If you are a prospective family but can’t make the open house and would like a personal tour, contact our school office at school@stphils.com or 309-682-8642.
