Seventh graders are tackling the issue of hunger this year as their service project. They collected canned goods and other non-perishables in November and then delivered them to New Hope Apartments. While there they learned about what happens at New Hope and how their efforts help the community. Also in November they spent a day at Midwest Food Bank where they packed 4800 cans in an hour. Students then wrote reflections on service in their community. Below is a poem by 7th grader, Marcus Ice.<\/p>\n

Many people touched<\/span><\/p>\n

Feeding the people who need it <\/span>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In one day<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Putting smiles<\/span><\/p>\n

On the hurt<\/span><\/p>\n

And struggling<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In one day<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Putting your feet<\/span><\/p>\n

In others shoes<\/span><\/p>\n

Who are more unfortunate\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Than you<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In one day<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

A deed is made<\/span><\/p>\n

And our service dedicates us<\/span><\/p>\n

To help them<\/span><\/p>\n

Lives are changed<\/span><\/p>\n

Emotions, happy, joyful, surprised<\/span><\/p>\n

Are all glowing<\/span><\/p>\n
