Dear friend,<\/p>\n

The Bishops of the United States recently announced a National Eucharistic Revival which will culminate with a National Eucharistic Congress in July 2024 in Indianapolis. This effort is to emphasize the Holy Eucharist as the source and summit of our faith. In this ever changing world, the Church as well needs to adapt her communication to reach the people. The pandemic directly effected church attendance. For a while we all couldn\u2019t attend Mass together for fear of hurting each other, which lingered past the temporary shutdown. While our Mass attendance has increased this year, we are not at the attendance level of pre-Covid Masses. The Bishops have listed four primary goals of the Eucharistic Revival, which will hopefully enlighten belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To provide a more profound encounter with Jesus Christ in the Sunday liturgy as a point of unity among all Catholics, and through this powerful encounter, find personal healing and courage to take the Gospel to a world in need of authentic love \u2013 the love of Christ found in the Eucharist.<\/li>\n
  2. To spark personal conversions through the joyful discovery of a relationship with Christ by encountering the love of God present in Jesus in the Eucharist.<\/li>\n
  3. To elevate the truth and practices of our Catholic faith through the rediscovery of the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist \u2013 the source and summit of our Church and of who we are as a people of God.<\/li>\n
  4. To form, inspire, and launch missionary disciples, filled with love of God and neighbor that comes from an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist, to the margins of the Church and the world.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    These four goals, as well as other important information about the Eucharistic Revival, can be found on the website www.eucharisticrevival.org. This website not only includes the \u201cwhat\u201d and the \u201cwhy\u201d of the Eucharistic revival, but you can also sign up to receive regular updates by email. As you may know, our new resident priest at St. Philomena, Fr. Luke Spannagel, is one of the Eucharistic preachers who will help prepare the country to receive the grace and wisdom of the Eucharistic Revival. Not only will Fr. Luke travel around the country preaching on the Eucharist at parishes, but he writes an extensive number of columns on the Eucharist, the Mass, and our communal participation.\u00a0 Fr.
