BAPTISM

Baptism is the celebration of an infant's initiation into the Catholic faith. Since an infant can't make an act of faith, the parents and Godparents (or sponsors).... and the child's family accept responsibility to develop his/her faith. There is as separate program, called RCIA, for non-Catholic adults wishing to be baptized.

Baptisms are generally held every Sunday except the last Sunday of the month. First-time parents are requested to go through Baptism preparation with one of our clergy.  When possible, please meet with a priest or our deacon prior to the birth of your child. To set an appointment, contact the rectory at 309-682-8642 or parish@stphils.com.

Parents who have already had a child baptized are not requested to meet with a priest and should contact the rectory to schedule the baptism.
Families should understand that more than one baptism may take place each Sunday. However, each child receives the sacrament separately, as families are brought to the baptismal font individually.
