MyParish App

In late 2014, St. Philomena Parish launched our own app for iPhone and Android smart phones.  To download this app, go to or directly to the App Store or Google Play on your Smartphone.

With this app, we have the ability to push out messages in a timely manner to those who would like to receive them (this will not replace our weekly emails). These messages will be about special events, Holy Day reminders, Penance Service times, etc…  Messages which contain event information can also be directly added to your calendar. Messages and calendar events can be shared via text message or email with friends or posted on various Social Media sites.

The app has the most up-to-date Mass and confession schedule for each week and allows you to set reminders for the next Mass you want to attend as well as when you want to next go to confession. There is an examination of conscience which allows you to review the Ten Commandments and help you think about what you need to confess. In addition the confession section provides a quick ‘how to’ review and several examples of the Act of Contrition.

We are already downloading a homily from each day (one from each weekend) allowing parishioners the opportunity to hear the message again, share it with a  friend or listen for the first time if you didn’t get to Mass at St. Philomena that day.

You will find many different prayers and have the ability to set a reminder for prayers you want to say every day, every week or just once at a certain time. The app connects you to the daily readings as well as important national and international Catholic news via EWTN and Catholic News Agency.

We see this app as a gateway to a lot of great information about the Church and about what is happening right here at St. Philomena. The reminders and tools can be very helpful in helping you live your faith every day.  MyParish will not replace our current forms of communication, but rather enhance what we are already doing.  After you’ve used it a little while, please let us know how it’s going: what works and what doesn’t. You can reach out to Rhonda Parker at or call 682-8642 (both of which are available via the app, by the way!).
